Qualified Law Enforcement Donation Tax Credit

Your Dunwoody Police Foundation Donation Can Qualify as a Tax Credit

Did you know? Individuals and businesses can make a donation to the Dunwoody Police Foundation and receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit. The “Law Enforcement Strategic Support Act,” also known as the “LESS Crime Act,” is designed to incentivize individuals and businesses to support law enforcement and improve public safety in their communities. The Dunwoody Police Foundation, established in 2019, is a qualified 501(c)(3) entity, which is eligible for donations. The program allows the following tax credits for annual state income tax liability:

  • Single individual or head of households: up to $5,000
  • Married couple filing jointly: up to $10,000
  • Limited liability company (LLC), or shareholder of a Subchapter (S) corporation or partner in a partnership: up to $10,000
  • Corporations up to 75% of their state income tax liability

It is important to note that a tax credit is different from a tax deduction. A tax credit is a dollar-for-dollar reduction in the amount of tax owed. Click here for more information on the program. Click here to start the process by registering for pre-approval with the Georgia Tax Center.
