Honoring Detective Jordan Laverty: A Hero Remembered
It is with heavy hearts that the Dunwoody Police Foundation shares the devastating news of the unexpected passing of Detective Jordan Laverty, Badge #1514. Detective Laverty faithfully served the citizens of Dunwoody for eight years and previously served three years with the DeKalb County Police Department. Throughout his career, Jordan embodied what it means to serve with honor—demonstrating unwavering dedication, integrity, and compassion for the people and community he so proudly protected. His absence leaves an immeasurable void in the Dunwoody Police Department, among his fellow officers, and throughout our entire community. Jordan leaves behind his beloved wife and four children. As a Foundation, our hearts ache for his family, for his colleagues, and for the countless lives he touched through his service. This loss is deeply personal to us all. The Dunwoody Police Foundation exists to stand beside our officers and their families in times of hardship—and today, that mission has never been more important. In the wake of this tragedy, the Foundation is doing everything possible to ensure that Detective Laverty’s family receives the support they need during this unimaginably difficult time.
